I assume the winch boom is capable of at least 5 ton, due to future upgrades of the winch system. Because the Formatic is delivered with 5 ton winch, it is only a matter of time before Pisten Bully will follow up!

This is called the active boom winch copensates for sideways winching.

i still assume that the winchboom is capable of 5 ton due to future upgrades :) 5 ton is not a question about if, but when! How is the active winch system in design? Hydraulic engine in the turntable giving the boom a rotating force? It must be hell of a force in the turntable? Anyway an interesting and wanted solution up in the steep north :)

this is the active boom. Its currently at mammoth mountain in california. There is a gearing in the turntable that helps bring the cat around at off angles. It is a big issue with competition in the states. This pic was taken in dec , i was looking at the reverse camera.

That looks like our Oak Creek Rep Jeff Lancaster in the picture. Unfortunately last night our new PB 600 Polar AB was dragged over some rocks and frayed the cable at 500 m out !!!!!!! Had less than 50 hours on it.

depends on many circumstances, f.ex. if the wire is dragged over rocks, if you need to use 4 ton all the time etc...., but for the Pisten Bully 4 ton winch, around 4-500 hours is normal....

it´s not much!a ask the price and the cable from the fazzer coust ca.8000-9000euro for the pisten bully.tis very pricy!:-( for the leitwolf the half price also 4000-4500euro! thanks ole!!

the rope are different from a "capstan head" winch (pistenbully) and a "drum winch" (Leitwolf)!!
